Rise Up! Feminist Digital Archive
A Digital Archive of Feminist Activism
This subsection contains material on the movement that emerged during the 70s and 80s for child care services. This movement was tied to the rapidly growing numbers of women with children seeking not only full-time paid employment, but also workplace equality. Activists advocated for publicly funded childcare; organized to improve the pay and working conditions of childcare workers; and addressed barriers to accessibility of childcare for racialized and immigrant families, Indigenous communities, single or lower income parents, as well as those in rural and northern areas.
